India’s merchandise trade deficit narrows to $26.86 billion in August as exports jump 26%.
India’s total exports, comprising merchandise and services, reached $399.27 billion during April-August 2026-27, registering an estimated 15.55% growth over $345.55 billion during the corresponding period last year.
The sustained export momentum reflects India’s growing competitiveness in global markets and the continued strength of its merchandise and services exports.
Electronic Goods exports grew by 89.82% in August 2026, reaching $5.55 Billion, compared to $2.93 billion in August 2025. Supported by growing manufacturing capabilities and innovation-led production, the sector is emerging as a key contributor to India’s export basket.
Cotton yarn/fabs/made-ups and handloom product exports increased by 13.79% in August 2026, reaching $1.12 Billion, compared to $0.99 Billion in August 2025. The growth reflects continued global demand for India’s cotton, handloom, and made-up products, strengthening its presence in international markets.
