13 PMGSY-IV projects to boost rural connectivity in Udhampur.

 Rural road connectivity in Udhampur district is set to receive a major boost with 13 road projects worth Rs 110.80 crore sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV), Batch-I of 2026-27.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, while informing about the sanctioned projects, said the initiative is aimed at improving connectivity to remote and far-flung areas and strengthening last-mile road infrastructure across the district. He said the projects reflect the priority being accorded to rural development and connectivity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The sanctioned projects cover Ramnagar/Chanunta Dalsar, Jaganoo, Chenani and Udhampur blocks, with a total estimated cost of Rs 11,080.49 lakh, equivalent to Rs 110.80 crore.

In Ramnagar/Chanunta Dalsar, two projects have been sanctioned for the Chanunta Khas to Nagrota Panjgrain road. The 1.602-km stretch from Km 2nd to Pathi Gair has been approved at Rs 4.08 crore, while the 4.514-km stretch from Km 7th to Upper Khail carries an estimated cost of Rs 11.53 crore.

Three projects have been sanctioned in Jaganoo at a combined cost of about Rs 20.52 crore. These include the 5.014-km Ladden to Sulgar road from Km 9th to Thanoa at Rs 11.54 crore; the 2.317-km Jaganoo to Ser Chompal Nallaha road from Km 3rd to Neeli at Rs 5 crore; and the 1.8-km Barta Higher Secondary School road from Km 1st to Chapper at Rs 3.98 crore.

In Chenani, two projects have been approved at a combined cost of nearly Rs 24.88 crore. The 7.850-km Mantalai to Sira road from Km 10th to Seri has been sanctioned at Rs 20 crore, while the two-km Mantalai-Sira Road from Km 8th to Karpalt carries an estimated cost of Rs 4.88 crore.

The remaining six projects fall under Udhampur block and involve an estimated investment of about Rs 41.80 crore. These include link roads connecting Dabreh Kred, Pangara Jagir, Dabreh Chak, Gandala-Bali, Himbra Bridge and Jib Thathi Road with adjoining rural areas.

The projects are expected to improve access to markets, healthcare, education and other essential services, besides facilitating movement and supporting economic activity in rural areas.

The sanctioned road works will also incorporate waste-plastic technology, promoting sustainable and durable road construction while contributing to productive utilisation of plastic waste. The initiative is expected to further strengthen rural connectivity and accelerate socio-economic development in remote areas of Udhampur.
