The Ministry of Rural Development said that through these Panch Sammelans, participation of more than 5.26 lakh Panchayati Raj representatives, functionaries, and officials has been ensured. It said that this achievement reflects the active participation, commitment and strong ownership demonstrated by States and Union Territories towards the effective implementation of the VB-G RAM G Act. The Ministry said that so far, 23 States and Union Territories have completed their scheduled Panch Sammelans. These include Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Mizoram among others.

Canada has announced counter-tariffs on 27.6 billion Canadian dollars, which is approximately $20 billion, worth of American imports. Beginning September 8, duties of 15, 25 and 50% will be imposed on more than 700 categories of U.S.-made products. The highest tariff of 50% will apply to American steel, aluminum, furniture, clothing and apparel. Appliances, dairy products (including cheese), fish, seafood and certain steel and aluminum derivatives will face a 25% tariff. Selected electronics and tools will face duties of 15%. Canada’s existing counter-tariffs on American automobiles will also remain in place. Originating in Tibet, the flood devastated several towns and villages, washing away critical bridges and crippling a dozen hydropower projects. Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal told the parliament that an earthquake hit the Tibet region at 8:37 am (local time) and the flash floods were reported three minutes later, suggesting a glacial outburst due to tremors, which triggered the floods.  Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said the massive flood entered the Trishuli River through the Bhote Koshi in Timure, a border town in Rasuwa district, due to the rockslide and swelling of the Lhende River situated along the Nepal-Tibet border.
